Costa Rica’s Wildlife

Costa Rica is the land of nature and wildlife and nowhere will you see nature at your doorstep like in Manuel Antonio.

There are few experiences in life that can compare to seeing beautiful exotic animals living as nature intended, in their natural habitat, and every single person who visits this beautiful country is privy to this experience.

The diversity of wildlife in the Manuel Antonio National Park is unequaled with 109 species of mammals and 184 species of birds and our experienced park guides can point out even the smallest of critters that will take your breath away.

Monkeys at Your Villa

But you don’t have to visit the park to see nature all around you. From your private vacation villa balcony it is common to see either a troop of white face monkeys or Titi monkeys making their way through the canopy. The distinct and unforgettable sound of the howler monkey off in the distance might be what rouses you for your morning coffee and the throaty, sad call of the toucan will have you looking across the trees for a glimpse of this magnificent bird.

Beach Bums

Walk along the beach and look at the foot of the almond trees and you are sure to see our spiny tailed black iguanas wandering between the trees. You think you are seeing shells on the beach just ahead of you till you realize they are moving as the sounds of your footsteps along the sand have the hermit crabs scampering to get away.

Happy Hour Viewing

While sitting at any one of your many outdoor terraces from your private vacation rental, be sure to look at the surrounding trees and posts. You just might see a green tree frog relaxing without a care in the world and of course, always keep your eyes open for the famous two toed and three toed sloths. They will be sitting high in the canopy enjoying the abundant green leaves.
